Welcome to The Epicurean Connection! As a chef, I look forward to the seasons changing, adapting the menus and presenting the freshest, locally produced products. Please take some time to visit the new menus, culinary pairings and much more. Thank you to each of your who attended the sold out 6th annual Sonoma Valley Cheese Conference! The speakers were amazing and shared a wealth of information with the guests. Juliet Harbutt shared her knowledge on English Cheeses, we actually were able to talk pricing from the producer to the consumer, hear the history of cheese from Ig Vella, Franklin Peluso and Sid Cook, and so much more! The guests also brought a lot to the conference, as they traveled from around the country, Canada and England to Sonoma to share their cheeses, enjoy Sonoma Valley and meet new friends in the cheese and dairy business. Save the date, as I look forward to the 7th annual Sonoma Valley Cheese Conference February 22-25, 2009 with Keynote guests speakers to include Rob Kaufelt from Murray's Cheese Shop in New York and guest Cheesemaker Sid Cook of Carr Valley Cheese in Wisconsin. In addition, we will be offering tours of a local dairy, on and off site cheese tastings, wine tastings, craft brew tasting and much more. Stay tuned and visit the Cheese Conference page for updates. March 2008 launched the Conversations on Food and wine at the Sonoma Community Center. The Epicurean Connection has partnered with the Sonoma Community Center to host 12 events throughout the year, with proceeds going to rebuild the kitchen at the Sonoma Community Center. Guests include Clark Wolf, Janet Fletcher, Laura Werlin, John Ash, Ig Vella, Anani Lawson, Ned Hill, Peter Wellington, David Noyes and many more. Please visit the events page for additional details or go to the Sonoma Community Center website at www.sonomacommunitycenter.org. In 2008, I will travel to New Orleans 8-12 times per year to host a series of culinary classes, New Orleans Culinary Tours, guest chef dinners and participate in special events all in New Orleans, me home away from home. Most importantly in traveling to New Orleans, I am proud to be part of the rebuilding of one of our finest city's in our country. The city of New Orleans is filled with amazing cuisine, culture, music, characters and much more than I can put into words. I encourage each of you to visit New Orleans, participate in the rebuilding and support the citizens of New Orleans. I have met some of the most amazing people in my travels, we laugh, we cry, we have long conversations and I have never felt so welcome before. One new addition to The Epicurean Connection is the Live Journal by Sheana Davis. Thanks to my two good friends Gordon Edgar and Kathy Gori, for both encouraging me to start writing, as I have now entered the new era of blogging! Each week if not daily, I will post recipes, event reviews, culinary travels and culinary conversations! Please visit www.sheanadavis.livejournal.com. Check out the events calendar as it is updated each week with new events for each of you to attend! In addition, each month, new recipes, culinary pairings, wine and cheese pairings, beer and cheese pairings and so much more are posted so please do enjoy the new additions to the website! Thank you to Star MacKay, of BestinSonoma.com, who created this website and many compliments have come our direction based upon the friendly layout and colorful presentations! Look for a new Podcast from Sheana Davis, starting in April with The Sonoma Index Tribune! www.sonomanews.com Thanks to Ryan Lynch, I will be launching the Podcast featuring chefs, farmers, winemakers, brewers, authors, special guests from near and afar, so please stay tuned. |
